Well the summer is now over and the leaves are all turning a mix of beautiful colours and I have just noticed how long it is since I last blogged and yet I am spending much of my time extolling the virtues of blogging to many of our clients. It’s definitely a case of ‘do as I say, not do as I do’. Oh dear. Not a good example to set!
So how do you ensure you use your blog well? How do you make it an essential part of your working day, week, month? Along with all the other business must-dos – deliver to your clients, attend events, update LinkedIn… I’ve become very good at spotting newsworthy pieces for our clients to blog about but never remember what I want to say.
However, in my research about blogging I have come across a great online resource which can be found at: http://www.problogger.net/how-to-write-great-blog-content.
Like all things it’s about making it a habit. So if you spot that interesting news item, write a quick blog about why it’s noteworthy; if you win a new piece of business, write a blog announcing your great new project. You can always to back and update the blog with more content at a later date but in the meantime you have blogged, said your piece and got your news or opinion out there.
I’m off to blog about our new project for the Manchester Business School at University of Manchester and about a fascinating news piece on the BBC about whether Africa needs the internet more than it needs water.
