Our latest WordPress site launch is a blog site for the author Dominic Streatfeild who is soon to publish his fourth book titled “A History of the World since 9/11“. With a title like that you would think that there has been lots of marketing and promotional activity going on but when we discussed this with Dominic we were surprised to learn that he didn’t have any online presence.
To address this we set about creating a minimal and uncluttered customised WordPress theme which is backed by WordPress 3.0. This blog site provides Dominic with an online space to publicise his forthcoming release, his other titles that include “Cocaine: An Unauthorised Biography” and “Brainwash: The Secret Story of Mind Control”, as well as his travel books and extensive work in journalism and television.
This has given Dominic the ability to engage directly with fans of his work and potential future readers. He has used his site to provide access to just some of the research he generated during the development of his books, along with provding a vehicle for ongoing debate. Part of our work with Dominic included training him in the WordPress backend system in order that he now has full control over his blog site.
In addition, we have been acting as his social media managers, working with him on his blogs on a regular basis and developing a Facebook page for him and his work. He now has fans on Facebook from all over the world with people joining on a regular basis as we help to create a word-of-mouth buzz in the run-up to his book launch in February 2011.
